Come! Let’s go on an expedition to a place far away. You decide where you would like to go, and I will provide the means for you to get there.

Does this sound surreal? Well, maybe it is. However, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you may not get another chance. So what do you have to lose? I advise you to keep reading because there are a few things you will need to know.

There are only five faraway destinations to select from within the entire world, and you will choose one. The other members of this class will choose a different location, so that everyone will have visited all five places. You all will visit one of the world’s five major biomes.

The following are your options to choose from: aquatic biome, desert biome, forest biome, grassland biome, or tundra biome.

Each area has very distinctive characteristics, some which will be similar and others which will be dissimilar. Therefore, it will be to your great advantage to choose a destination based on your research. It will help you in the long run.

After you choose where you want to visit, you will need to be aware of things such as the location, climate, and who or what lives there. The information regarding your surroundings will help you know how to survive within your chosen environment. I suggest you research the place that you decide to visit very well, because once you get there you will be stuck there for two weeks.

Once you get there, make sure you have various tools such as pencils, paper, a camera, a camcorder, a tape recorder, etc. in order to capture and record information. Use all your senses to experience your excursion to the fullest, so that you can create a vivid picture for the task that will be given later.

WHAT IS A BIOME?

Biomes are various areas throughout the world that are classified primarily according to its region, climate, plant, and animal inhabitants. Each biome has several ecosystems, which are interdependent communities of organisms that inhabit specific physical environments, function together, and survive off of its surroundings. The ecosystems have different communities that adapt to the different region, climate, and the living things inside the biome. These several factors determine what type of biome can exist in a specific region.
